Another day at the zoo!

Last Friday we went to the zoo again (a different one from last time!). It was a very cold day but we still had fun and I saw lots of animals I had never seen before. When we first got there there were some monkjack deer (bottom pic)roaming in the grounds right by our car and later we saw wallabies hopping around too! Even mummy liked seeing them as she said she had never seen a wallaby before! My favourite animals were the lemurs (second pic) as they were fun to watch, and also the baby elephant that kept slipping over in the mud made me laugh! Also the seals were great fun as we got to see them swim underwater. Mummy and Daddy said that I would've loved the penguins but I was having my afternoon nap by the time we got to them! I had a lovely day and mummy said we would go back there in the summer when it was nice enough to sit outside and have a picnic lunch. That evening we stopped at my Nanna's house and I walked two steps from Mummy to Nanna! I'm learning to do lots more now like getting my hands on the TV changer and pointing it at the TV and I also pick up the phone and say hello into it - which made everyone laugh the other weekend when I was playing with Uncle James' mobile phone!

A busy week

This last week has been quite eventful. Mummy has a new job and so I have spent three days this week with my Nanna, which I don't mind as she spoils me - plus there are two horses that live down the road and we go and see them and feed them cereal! India still comes around to my house one morning a week and we have fun watching C-Beebies and playing with my toys. India can walk now and her new game is to chase Thomas around the lounge - I can't wait to do that too! I have been practising this weekend actually. This morning I was stood up against my play pen and I let go to see how long I could stand all on my own - it was so exciting that it made me laugh! I tried it a few times, each time I dared to stand a bit longer, but then I lost my balance and fell back onto my noah's ark and I was upset but luckily daddy was there to pick me up for a cuddle! On saturday I saw my cousin, Dharma, and we went on some swings together which was great fun! We met up at our Grandma and Grandad's house and Grandad cooked dinner and I tried some for the first time and thought it was nice as it was different to my usual food! Mummy lets me eat almost anything now, in moderation, except for meat of course as I'm a vegetarian! Like today, I had some pear tart with chocolate sauce which was meant to be for the grown ups but I pointed at mummy's plate and spoon for so long that she let me have a few mouthfuls - it was delicious and everyone laughed at me as it looked like I had chocolate-coloured lipstick on!

A day in the life of me

Normally I wake up (nearly always in mummy and daddy's bed!) at 7.30am. Mummy gets me washed and dressed and we then have breakfast; then I sit down and watch CBeebies while playing with my toys. When I get restless mummy puts me in my walker car in the kitchen so that I can watch her cooking! At 12 I have my lunch (I nearly always have blueberries and once I pulled the whole carton off the table when mummy wasn't looking!) and at 1pm Daddy comes home for lunch and I squeal with excitement when he comes through the door and says hello to me! In the afternoon we go out either for a walk or to the shops and I have my afternoon nap. Then we come home and I have a practice at standing up as well as playing with my toys. At 5pm Thomas comes in from the garden looking for his dinner and I try and catch him as he runs past me and he makes me laugh until I realise that I am hungry too and then mummy says it is like feeding time at the zoo with me screaming and Thomas meowing for our dinners! Daddy comes home from work at 5.30 so I get to spend a little while with him before my bath and bed time at 7pm. It's even better at the weekend because I get to spend all day with daddy and we do fun things together like practicing walking and daddy sometimes plays his guitar and I nod my head along to the tune! Today mummy was very impressed with me at dinnertime because I ate most of my fish pie all by myself! I had been trying to get the spoon off her for a few days now but she kept telling me that I couldn't do it by myself - I tried to tell her by crying and not opening my mouth and trying to grab the spoon but she wouldn't let me until today when I was a my Nanna's house for dinner and Nanna gave me the spoon - mummy was so surprised and said that I could feed myself from now on if I want! Another thing that I have learnt to do this week is brush my own hair! Mummy was brushing my hair before bed last night and I grabbed the brush off her and did it myself which made mummy laugh! Other things I do that make mummy and daddy laugh are when I drop something I say "Uh oh" and if they say "Well done" or "Good boy" then I start clapping!

My 1st trip to the Zoo

Yesterday we went to the zoo and we saw lots of monkeys as well as giraffes, elephants, leopards, a lion, a huge orangutan, chimps, gorillas, meerkats, lemurs, pygmy goats, penguins and sealions! There was so much to see I didn't know where to look first, but my absolute favourite animals were the langur monkeys - they were very cute and they jumped around which made me laugh a lot! We had a picnic of peanut butter and jam sandwiches and yoghurt and animal biscuits, and then I slept on the way home and dreamed of jumping around with monkeys!

Oscar's 1st Birthday!

On Saturday I went to my mate Oscar's birthday party. He is 1 as well now! We had good fun and he got loads of new toys like I did and his grandma made him a chocolate birthday cake which was delicious!

This is me and Oscar with our friend India - Daddy calls us the three amigos and says that we are thick as thieves when we get together! India comes over to stay at my house one morning a week now. Mummy had to try and feed both of us at lunch time - but I wasn't hungry as I was too interested in getting into the kitchen cupboards because Mummy had to put me in my walker as India was in my high chair! It was great fun but mummy said she is pleased she only has me to look after most of the time!!

I Am 1 !

It was my birthday on Sunday so I am now 1 years old! On Saturday I had party and all my friends plus some of my family came over. The weather was good so we were able to sit outside to have our lunch - it was great fun! Mummy made me a cake with 5 little ducks on as this was always my favourite song when I was really little! Mummy let me open all the presents that I got from my guests on Saturday - I got lots of great toys, including a trampoline! I have some good photos to show you - some are courtesy of my Aunty Kate and Aunty Mel. Then on Sunday the rest of my family came over and we went out for a nice meal and I got more presents! I was such a lucky boy and had the best weekend ever!

My new friend, baby Nelia

Today we went around to Mummy's friend's house to see her newborn baby! Her name is Nelia Eden and she is very cute! I was a bit disappointed that she couldn't play with me but mummy said that she would be able to when she is bigger as she is very small at the moment and just wants to eat and sleep!

A fun weekend and some good news...

On Saturday my Grandma and Grandad came around to visit me. We went to a farmer's market and a garden centre where I saw some fish and had my lunch. Then we went home and I demonstrated my unique crawling style. I don't quite crawl properly, I do an army-style crawl - much cooler! It is hard work but I'm getting about really well - I especially like to go and pull the sky card out of the box and I can even pull myself onto my feet using my toy box as support - it will not be long before I'm getting about on my feet - that's when the fun will start!

On Sunday I saw my Great Nanna and Great Aunty Vicky for the day. We went down to a pub and I sat on a play horse that is no longer in action but mummy said she used to go on it when she was little and it was red then and lived on the village green on the playground! We also saw some morris dancers and I sat on Nanna's lap and liked bobbing to the music! I even went in to the pub to watch a bit of footie with Daddy!

My mummy told me about some wonderful news yesterday. Her best friend from school has just had a little girl! She weighed 7lb and they have called her Nelia. We are going around to see her on Wednesday so I might be able to get a photo of her!

My First Summer.

Mummy says that the weather hasn't been great this summer but I don't mind as I find it hard to sleep when it is too hot! Last week it was nice enough to have my sun tent up in the garden and my friends Jake and Leyton came over. Then the next day I was back in my jeans and jumper as it wasn't as warm! On Sunday we went out for a bike ride. I went in my trailer on the back of Daddy's bike. It was great fun! We cycled all the way to our nearest country park where there is a big lake. Mummy and Daddy had an ice cream and I had a bit of Daddy's flake - mummy said that I could have an ice cream when I was a bit older when I would have my very own bike to ride too!

My Great Grandad

On Tuesday my Great Grandad passed away. He was quite old and I only met him once when I was 3 months old. On Friday we went to his funeral and it was very sad, but it was nice to see my Great Nanny, Aunty Vicky, Uncle Gary and Aunty Sue and second cousins, Amy and Ben, and of course, Uncle James and Aunty Sam.

My First Word!

I said my first word last Thursday! It was "Mamma"! Mummy and Daddy laugh and look at me each time I say it! I can also say "Baabaa" but I'm still working on "Dadda"! Some days I forget that I can talk and then other days I can't keep quiet and I just go "Mammamamma...." and it's really good fun!

This photo was taken today at Aunty Lucy's - I tried on her sunglasses and tried out her new stokke cot!

A day out at Aunty Kate and Uncle Gary's

On Saturday me, Mummy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandad all travelled down to Southampton to visit my Aunty Kate and Uncle Gary. We had a lovely day despite the weather! We went out for a nice meal (well I had mine before and then had breadsticks and juice at the restaurant!) and then we went back to Aunty Kate and Uncle Gary's house and I saw their cat - she was cute, and then I played with my toys in their lounge! I've learnt to clap now and I laugh when anyone says, "Ready...steady...GO!"

A day out at my cousin's house

On Saturday I went to see my cousin, Dharma who is three months younger than me. It was fun to spend the day with her. I sat in her highchair to have my lunch as she had already had hers and was having her afternoon nap! I did my best to try and wake her with my squeals of excitement but she seems to be a very good sleeper and ignored me! I enjoyed playing with her toys and mummy says that I was a bit naughty because I grabbed one of Dharma's toys out of her hand when we were both sat on the sofa! It will be so much fun when we can both run around and play games together!

Father's Day on Grandad's Boat

On Sunday it was Father's Day. It was my Daddy's very first Father's Day. I gave him a card and a big Toblerone and mummy helped me make breakfast in bed for him! We then got ready to go out for the day to Grandad's narrow boat. It was a lovely warm day and we went out for a walk and stopped off at the local pub for a drink before we went back to the boat for lunch.

Our Holiday in Cornwall

We had a lovely week in Cornwall. I went to the beach; on coastal walks (I went in a rucksack on daddy's back!); a country park and visited some towns - Truro, St.Ives, Helston, and Newquay. The first beach I went to was Fistral Beach in Newquay. My great Aunty Vicky, Uncle James and Aunty Sam went surfing while me, mummy and daddy stayed on the beach and played in the sand. I loved the feel of the sand between my fingers and on my feet and I tried not to put it in my mouth as mummy told me not to! I'm looking forward to next year when I will be walking so I'll be able to run along the sand and paddle in the sea! We also went to the beach at Perranporth where Uncle James built some sand castles for me - next year I will make my own!

We stayed in a lovely cottage which had a swimming pool. I went in it twice but it was too chilly for me to stay in long even though I did have my wetsuit on! I had my own cot and high chair while I stayed there and there was even a playroom with a TV and videos and I went in there to watch one of favourite shows the Teletubbies in the morning (my favourite bit is the baby in the sun - he always makes me giggle!). There was also some cows and calves in the field next to our cottage and it was fun to watch the mummy cows drinking water out of an old bath and the calves were drinking milk from their mummies.

While on holiday in Cornwall I cut my seventh tooth and I learnt to wave! When mummy or daddy wave at me and say hello I can now wave back at them! I'm learning to do it to all my family and friends now. I've started to copy mummy and daddy more and more now - like when they stick out their tongue I stick mine out at them, and when daddy turns his head to one side I can turn mine too! I also recognise my name and respond if mummy or daddy call me Finn, Finny or Fintan (if I'm naughty!), and mummy says that I should recognise the word 'No' by now - and I sort of do, but sometimes I don't!
