We had a great holiday in Center Parcs last week. We went swimming everyday in the sub-tropical swimming paradise, bike riding in the forest around the lake, ten-pin bowling, disco dancing as well as spending lots of time at the indoor and outdoor play areas and feeding ducks and geese (and the odd uninvited swan!) on the patio of our villa! Mummy and Daddy said we will go back there - I can't wait! Bye for now, Finn x

My first visit to the cinema
On saturday I went on my first trip to the cinema to see Ice Age 3 with mummy! When we got there mummy let me get some pick and mix sweets so these kept me busy throughout the adverts and trailers before the film began! When the lights went down and it began I asked mummy if this was the DVD because it was like when we watch DVDs at home - but the TV was much bigger! The film was really good as it had dinosaurs in it - and these are my favourite things at the moment (after my trains)! Daddy and Jacob came to pick us up and I asked mummy if Jacob could come with us next time! Bye for now, Fintan x.

I'm crawling...!
There's no stopping me now, I've started to crawl this week and it's great! All the toys that my big brother says are his (but mummy says are to be shared) are now within my reach, I no longer have to just sit and watch! They call me Jacobzilla as I love to crawl over to Finn's train tracks and demolish them and then chew the trains! I have also pulled myself up to standing position against the sofa a few times and I'm really keen to walk now but my legs are still a bit wobbly! Watch this space! Jacob xxx.

We had a great action-packed weekend. On saturday we went to Wimpole Hall - I just love going to National Trust places (in case you hadn't already guessed!). It is great at Wimpole as there are farm animals and an adventure playground and toy tractors to ride on! We finished the day off with an ice cream in the courtyard area and mummy bought me a new pair of binoculars (although it sounds like "oxygen" when I say it!) from the toy shop!
Yesterday we went to Wicksteed park, where there was lots of fun rides and I saw some steam engines, it was great! In the evening we had a BBQ in our back garden. I had quorn sausages with yellow ketchup (what I call hot dog mustard!) and salmon steak and Daddy's home-grown new potatoes with butter - yummy! Jacob had the same but not the sausage and ketchup - he is eating loads at the moment, mummy says he must be going through a growth spurt! He is also trying very hard to crawl - it will be so much fun once he is on the move too! BFN, Fintan x.

Our Cornwall Holiday 2009
This year we went back to Cornwall. It is nice there, there is so much to do and we don't have to get on a plane, and this year we found a beach that was a good as the meditteranean (Porthcurno beach near Land's End - it's mummy's new favourite place!). We went back to the same cottage and saw the goats and chickens and the cheeky robin that flies into the kitchen! The weather wasn't wonderful, yet we did get to the beach twice while we were there. Jacob had a tummy bug most of the week so he did a lot of relaxing and sleeping while Finn did enough for both of them! He went on a pony ride, train ride, rowing boat, slides, trampolining, strawberry picking, swimming, looking at trains at the model railway, looking at fish at the sea aquarium, building sand castles, rock pooling, sea paddling as well as walking in the National Trust gardens and the laurel maze and lots of ice cream eating of course! Finn said that he liked his holiday bedroom but wanted to come back to "number five house" by the end of the week!

Hi there! I'm Finny's little bro, Jakey. Mummy thinks that rather than have my own blog Finn and I will share for now.
I am 8 months old now and my favourite hobbies are chewing everything (I have 4 teeth so far and 2 more on their way!); trying to grab Finn's toys - which he hates and grabs them back off me until Mummy tells him off for not sharing; drinking milk and eating lots of new foods (I'm doing baby-led weaning and refuse to be spoon-fed!). But perhaps my most favourite hobby is watching my brother, he is very amusing and interesting. I am getting more mobile by the day, I roll around trying to follow my brother and can't wait to get on my feet so that I can chase him.
This week has been a really good week. I have said my first word ("Mamma") and am working on others now. I have been swimming with Mummy and Finn and been in the paddling pool in the back garden twice. We have also started to eat dinner together as a family which I love because I get to eat the same as what everyone else has, this evening it was poached salmon with jacket potatoes and broccoli and sweetcorn and I loved all of it! Bye for now, Jacob x.
My New Bike!
Mummy and Daddy have bought me my first proper bike this week. I like sitting on it and can pedal it a little but it does seem quite difficult to ride. I still have my rory trike which I really like as it is the same as my friend India's (although she has a proper bike too now which is pink because she's a girl!). Mummy said that we will take my bike on holiday with us in September along with their bikes and a trailer for Jakey on Daddy's bike and we will be able to go on bike rides. BFN, Finn x.
Jakey's First Word and the Paddling Pool
Can't believe it has been over three months since my last blog, the year is just flying by. We have had a few days of very warm weather which prompted the arrival of the paddling pool in the back garden. It has been great fun playing with my brother, Jakey Baby as I call him, as he is getting big now! He is 8 months old and he sits up on his own very well, except for when I am naughty and push him over saying, "oops a daisy!" He is also getting more vocal and yesterday was doing his usual gurgling and cooing in his high chair and then all of a sudden out came the word "Mamma"! Mummy looked around from the sink thinking that it was me as she says we sound identical! BFN, Finny x.

Snow snow snow!!!

This month we have had more snow than in 18 years apparently. Mummy says that she remembers going out sledging with Uncle James all those years ago and how much fun it was - and I agree! Mummy and I made a snowman - and then a few days later we had yet more snow and so Daddy helped us to build three more snowmen so that we had a whole family of them sitting in the back garden peering into our patio door! Every morning I would go downstairs to make sure they were all still there, and for quite a while they were. But gradually they began to melt and leave nothing more than their "snowmen noses" (as I call carrots) and a scattering of stones that we had used to make their faces and buttons. I kept telling mummy that they had gone off on motorbikes as that is what happened in the story of The Snowman that Daddy has read to me. I was sad to see the snow go - I had great fun with my friend India having a snow ball fight! She got me more that I got her as my gloves were too big to pick up the snow easily! Jacob sat in his bumbo seat and watched us from the patio window as mummy said it was too cold for him to come outside. Poor Jacob has not been very well these last few weeks. He has had a chest infection and I have not been able to make him laugh at all but mummy says he is almost back to normal now and he has started to smile at me again :)

Christmas 2008 - My 3rd Christmas and Jacob's 1st!
Christmas this year began with a carol service at church with my mate Oscar - it was great fun! We sat together and watched the nativity play and then sung lots of carols and Oscar shared his packet of Goodies crisps with me! Then I went home and had a bath and then to bed as mum (I call her that now sometimes!) said Father Christmas was on his way and that he wouldn't come in to deliver the presents unless I was asleep! I awoke on Christmas morning around my usual time of 6.30 am and we went downstairs to see what Father Christmas had left! I was very lucky - I got a car garage, cars, a tape recorder, lots of books, a rocket, a digger, clothes, a xylophone, a giant Maisy jigsaw, a funpod and daddy got a remote control car that I love! We had Christmas dinner and then Grandpa and Aunty Wendy came round to see us. I was very tired that night after playing with all my new toys all day! On Boxing Day we went to see my Grandma and Grandpa and also my Aunty and Uncle and my new baby cousin, Eva, who was so cute and little! Then my other Uncle and Aunty came over that evening and stopped over. I have great fun with my Uncle James, he played with me on my magic car and brought me lots of Christmas presents. The day after my uncle and aunty stayed for lunch and Grandpa came over again to drop off another Christmas present - my funpod so that I can help mummy out in the kitchen! The next day I wasn't feeling too good as I had caught Daddy's cold so we didn't do much except go out in the buggy for some fresh air, then I slept a lot and had a nice hot bath and a good night's sleep. I am just getting over the cold now - I have an annoying cough that has put me off my food. Mummy says she's a bit worried but I am having milk and I had some mango today which is my favourite fruit at the moment and also had a crumpet and half a veggie sausage so hopefully I will get my appetite back again soon. I am looking forward to seeing my Aunty at the weekend as she is coming to see us and she has been away on a course for 3 months. I like it when she comes to stay as she makes me laugh and I have fun snuggling up in the camp bed with her in the lounge! Happy New Year to everyone and thank you Father Christmas and everyone for all the presents I am such a lucky boy!
